What about me?
Hi! I'm Mick.
I got my first camera when I was 18 and I had no clue how to use it. It was a Polaroid clone (that's where the peel to open name came from), I received as a Christmas gift. Turns out that there was a patent infringement on the Polaroid technology and the manufacturer was forced to cease production. At that point, the film for it became extinct and the manufacturer offered a crappy little camera as a replacement. I stuck with the shooting and learned as I went along. There's something about capturing a moment in time, a feeling, an expression that is hard to put into words.
In the 90's, I took a course on electronic publishing and graphic design and worked for a small firm in Regina. This is where I became aware of what a computer can do with photo images. From there, our firm jumped into website development, full force, and landed some nice contracts.
The photography is actually a hobby for me... but a passionate one. Though I have made a few dollars for my work, I'm not focused on getting rich doing it. It's way too much fun to worry about it as a means of income.
